Quilt layers and edge finishing

A supple woven cotton with light batting and a smooth woven backing is the starting fabric direction. A compatible pre-quilted cloth could also be assessed for flexibility and thickness. The planned broad vertical channels give the surface a quiet texture. Sample the complete fabric stack before cutting: quilting can change the dimensions, and the collar must turn without becoming rigid.

The English guide will address the separating zipper, collar attachment, dropped-shoulder sleeves, welt-pocket bags and bound edges. Supporting the zipper ends and welt corners will be developed with the chosen quilt layers. Pocket bags and internal seam finishes will be confirmed during preparation. The design is a single outward-facing jacket; reversible assembly is not included.

Planning your fitting sample

Make a full sample over the intended underlayer. Check forward reach, bent-arm sleeve length and pocket access, then sit with the zipper closed to assess room through the lower body. The front edges should meet evenly, and the collar should fold smoothly above the zipper. A sewing sample should also confirm that the machine can manage the binding and pocket corners through the full thickness. No tested warmth or weather-protection rating is specified.
