Wide sleeves and a softly gathered skirt give this 1919 kimono sleeve negligee sewing pattern its quiet shape. The planned garment has a closed front, a lace-edged V neckline and a broad high waistband. Its silhouette draws on late-1910s indoor clothing while the construction is an original Sewlore proposal.

Planned design

The bodice flows into generous integrated sleeves that end around the elbows. Fine ivory lace trims the neckline, upper shoulder area and sleeve edges, with opaque fabric beneath the main bodice. A softly fitted band defines the high waist, gathering the skirt into a long narrow fall toward the ankles. The back repeats the high band and gentle gathering, with a shallower V neckline. A discreet side closure is planned.

Fabric and sewing notes

Dusty rose silk crepe is shown as the main fabric idea, with warm ivory as an alternative for the same cut. Select a fluid, opaque woven fabric that works comfortably with the lace. Lace and main fabric should be tested together for weight, handling and care. The previews emphasize the sleeve width and high waist.

This project will call for careful gathering, clean lace application and a smooth transition through the waist band. A toile should check the depth of the neckline, sleeve movement and the position of the high waist before cutting final fabric. It is intended as a closed indoor garment rather than an open-front wrapping robe.
