This button-front raglan robe sewing pattern is planned around a loose 1960s-inspired lounge shape. Its front opens from neckline to hem, while long raglan sleeves and softly gathered wrists give it a different construction from a wrap kimono or a pullover nightgown.
The planned design
- A collarless, gently lowered round neckline with neat self-fabric binding.
- A full-length centre-front button placket; the preview uses six small ivory buttons.
- A continuous, slightly flared body finishing just above the knee, without a waist seam or belt.
- Long raglan sleeves joined from neckline to underarm.
- Elastic gathers at the wrists, leaving short self-fabric ruffled edges beneath the casings.
- Two lower-front patch pockets with softly rounded lower corners.
Fabric and fitting
The periwinkle preview shows opaque matte cotton. Choose a lightweight woven fabric that can hold a button placket yet gather softly at the wrists. Test the buttonholes, neckline finish and wrist elastic in a sample. Check shoulder-to-neck placement, upper-arm movement, sleeve length and the amount of body ease before cutting your final fabric.
