Full pattern details
This front-tie tent lounge gown sewing pattern is planned for a flowing 1970s-inspired indoor gown. A self-fabric sash draws in the front through side-seam openings, while the back keeps its loose tent-shaped fall.
The planned design
- A floor-length closed body with centre-front and centre-back seams.
- Modest V necklines at both front and back, finished with faced edges.
- Full-length set-in sleeves gathered into narrow elastic wrists.
- A separate self-fabric sash routed through waist-level side-seam openings and tied at the front with long bow tails.
- A loose rear silhouette without a visible back belt or a horizontal waist seam.
Fabric and fitting
The mulberry preview shows opaque matte crepe with fluid drape. A soft lightweight woven fabric should be sampled before cutting the full length. Check neckline depth and facing, sleeve movement, wrist elastic, floor clearance and the position of each sash opening in your fitting sample. The planned front fullness depends on how softly the fabric falls and how the sash is tied.
One long-sleeve lounge-gown project
This order covers the long-sleeve tent gown described here. A sleeveless variation and other caftan or robe designs are not included. Compare the openings and sleeve constructions of other sleepwear sewing patterns, or explore the broader vintage-inspired collection.
