Full pattern details

Prepared after purchase. Digital delivery within 1 business day. These planned wrap-and-tie trousers use overlapping panels for each wide leg, rather than a separate skirt overlay. A softly gathered waist casing and matching front ties complete the original 1970s-inspired ankle-length design.

Two wide legs with opening wrap edges

  • Opaque woven trousers with two distinct full-length legs
  • A central rise and crotch seam joining the leg panels
  • Generous overlapping wrap panels with finished vertical free edges
  • A narrow elasticated waist casing with matching center-front ties
  • A plain rear with a center-back construction seam
  • Plain turned hems without cuffs, pockets, fly, zipper or belt loops

Rust-red crepe shows the same trousers from the front, rear and close leg detail. The detail lifts one free panel edge to show the matching inner panel beneath. This is one trouser design, with no separate skirt or shorts layer. The ivory blouse and sandals are styling garments and are not included.

Fabric, closure and coverage planning

A fluid, opaque woven such as soft dress crepe is the starting direction. Choose fabric that allows the overlapping panels to move without clinging. Check opacity against the light, shrinkage, seam slippage and bulk in a sample. Final fabric specifications, material quantities, elastic and tie lengths will be confirmed during preparation.

The English guide will address the central rise, wrap-edge hems, casing and ties, and leveling the wide-leg hems. Make a complete fitting sample in comparable fabric. Check overlap coverage while walking, sitting and bending, as well as rise comfort and the waist opening. Elastic and ties do not establish a universal or one-size fit. Panel width, overlap and waist entry must be developed together; the images do not demonstrate a tested closure.

Compare the trouser construction

The vintage wide-leg trousers have a fitted darted waist and a side zipper. The pleated culottes use deep pleat overlays and sewn leg seams. The side-tie skort places an apron front over a shorts foundation. These trousers instead use the wrapping panels as the legs themselves.
