Skirt Sewing Patterns

Explore skirt sewing patterns by the shape you want to make, the way the waist closes and the movement you prefer at the hem. This collection brings together fourteen First Release design proposals, from everyday separates to a historical-inspired costume layer.

Compare the planned construction

• 1950s-Inspired Circle Skirt: a full circular shape with a fitted waistband and side zipper. The generous hem creates a different silhouette from fullness gathered into the waist.
• Vintage-Inspired Pencil Skirt: a narrow shape with waist darts, a fitted waistband and centre back zipper. A back walking vent is planned to provide movement.
• Vintage-Inspired Box-Pleat Skirt: evenly arranged pleats release below a fitted waistband, with a side zipper positioned between them. Accurate marking and folding will shape the intended fullness.
• Adjustable Wrap Skirt: overlapping panels, an inner fastening and a tie waistband. Straight and asymmetric front views are planned; overlap coverage needs checking while moving and sitting.
• Darted A-Line Skirt: waist darts and flare through the side seams, finished with a fitted waistband and concealed back zipper. Its fullness comes from the panel shape.
• Tiered Gathered Skirt: joined horizontal tiers create increasing fullness, with an elastic waist casing and pockets in the upper tier. Fabric weight will influence how the gathered layers hang.
• Integrated Shorts Skort: an outer skirt and inner shorts meet at a shared waistband. Rise, seated ease and the movement between layers need sample checks; no athletic performance is specified.
• Historical-Inspired Bustle Overskirt: internal ties lift the fuller rear panels over an underskirt. This costume layer is not an authenticated reproduction, and a rigid bustle foundation is outside its scope.
• Bias-Cut Slip Skirt: front and back panels placed on the bias, a stabilized waist facing and side zipper. Midi and maxi views share the same construction; the fabric needs time to settle before hemming.
• Shaped-Yoke Skirt: curved front and back hip yokes join to gathered lower panels. The upper shaping, rather than a simple gathered waistband, defines the fit.
• Stretch-Knit Tube Skirt: a close pull-on shape sewn from stretch-knit fabric, with an elastic waist. Fabric stretch and recovery guide development; this is a sewing project, not a knitting pattern.
• Children's Gathered Skirt: a child-specific pull-on waist, one gathered skirt section and side-seam pockets. Confirm the intended wearer's measurements before ordering.
• Pleated Culottes and Divided Skirt: two wide trouser legs with deep centre pleats create a skirt-like outline. A fitted waistband and side zipper distinguish this construction from an outer skirt over shorts.
• Stretch Running Skort: a stretch overlay and fitted, gusseted undershorts share a pull-on waistband. Running use is a development aim; movement, comfort and stay-in-place performance have not been tested.

Choose length as well as shape

Mini, midi and maxi describe length rather than construction. The A-line brief includes mini and below-knee views; the tiered and bias-cut designs include midi and maxi proportions. These designs have not yet been drafted, sewn or fit-tested. Each First Release order covers preparation of a PDF pattern and an English sewing guide, with a download link emailed within 1 business day of payment, Monday to Friday, by the end of the next business day in Istanbul time (UTC+3). Files are not available for instant download. Size charts, print layouts and PDF page counts are not yet final.
